About the RBA

The Royal Society of British Artists is a registered charity for the support and development of artists who live or work in the UK. It was founded in 1824 as "the Society of British Artists" and received it's Royal Charter in 1846. Under the leadership of James McNeill Whistler, that the Society won the right to the prefix ‘Royal’ in in 1887.

The RBA is part of the Federation of British Artists (FBA) and holds it's annual exhibition in the prestigious Mall Galleries.
